Connie Lu, MD
Biography
Connie Lu earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by an internship at WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center. She completed her diagnostic radiology residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine, where she served as chief resident. She completed a breast imaging fellowship at UCSF in 2025. Dr. Lu also holds a BS in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University.
Dr. Lu’s research and academic interests center on healthcare economics and policy, particularly as they relate to equitable patient access to care. Her work has focused on the history and structure of the U.S. healthcare payment system, physician reimbursement, and coding and nomenclature. She has also contributed to research on breast cancer detection, resident well-being, and the use of handheld ultrasound for resident training. Her findings on breast cancer have been presented in peer-reviewed journals, noting that screen-detected cancers are more likely to be smaller and less aggressive.
She is a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Economics Committee on Breast Imaging and the ACR Economics Committee on Coding & Nomenclature, providing input on coding articles and CPT code proposals. Dr. Lu was also selected for the Rutherford-Lavanty Fellowship in Government Relations, where she advocated for radiology-related legislation on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. She enjoys mentoring medical students and residents and has served on numerous committees dedicated to improving resident education, wellness, and diversity, and inclusion.
