Biography

Fabio Settecase, MD, MSc, FRCPC is an interventional neuroradiologist who treats vascular conditions of the brain, neck and spine using endovascular techniques, including: stroke, brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), arteriovenous fistulas (AVF), carotid artery disease, intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD), pulsatile tinnitus and pseudotumor cerebri.

Dr. Settecase currently works at Sutter Health but still maintains a faculty appointment with UCSF, where he helps train future neuroradiologists, collaborates on research studies, and practices neuroradiology. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

His research interests include the endovascular treatment of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial atherosclerotic disease, the role of dual energy CT and CT perfusion in stroke, venous sinus stenting for idiopathic intracranial hypertension, as well as comparative efficacy and cost-effectiveness of neurointerventional techniques.

Dr. Settecase is also a physician-advisor, consultant, and investor in Route 92 Medical, Inc., a medical device company.

Dr. Settecase completed his Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology clinical fellowships at UCSF. He completed his radiology residency at UCSF, where he was chief resident. He completed his internship and Master of Science degree at the University of Toronto. He obtained his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine.
