Contrast Material & CT Translational Research Lab
We advance patient care through innovative CT imaging and contrast agents, improving patient diagnosis, surgery, and treatment. Led by Dr. Benjamin Yeh, MD, our translational research group develops and validates novel CT techniques, including dual-energy and contrast-enhanced imaging. Our mission is to dramatically improve patient diagnoses, pre-surgical planning, and treatment monitoring, bridging the gap from preclinical development to clinical application.
Research
Partnering with UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging’s Abdominal Imaging Division, we develop novel CT techniques for clinical diagnosis. We validate CT imaging limits and create new contrast materials in preclinical studies. Our team members include international visiting radiologists and UCSF School of Medicine students enrolled in the Masters in Biomedical Imaging, and Masters in Translational Imaging programs. We leverage our state-of-the-art 1,080 square foot chemistry lab, strategically located near preclinical and clinical imaging facilities, to drive impactful advancements in medical imaging from bench to bedside.

News
New CT Oral Contrast Agent
"This agent could be the first new class of commercial CT contrast agent in 70 years," said Benjamin Yeh, MD, who, with colleagues at Mayo Clinic and the University of Washington School of Medicine, published a study in Abdominal Radiology reporting the results of a phase 2 clinical trial evaluating dark borosilicate oral contrast media for bowel imaging.
